A journey through quantum models and related optimal control problems
The control of quantum states in physical systems has a host of challenging and foreseen applications in nano-sciences, which is boosting investigation in the modelling and numerical solution of quantum control problems. This research field is wide open as quantum mechanics, control theory and numerical analysis. The purpose of this talk is to illustrate a few optimal control problems arising in quantum optics, dipole transition, dissipative systems, transport of Bose--Einstein condensates, and density functional theory, and to outline some related control strategies and corresponding modelling issues.
