       Quantum phase transitions

The study of Quantum Phase Transitions has recently attracted a renewed interest.

QPTs are phase transitions which occur in quantum systems at zero temperature varying some nonthermal control parameter (for example pressure, chemical potential, doping concentration, ....).

In realistic systems the presence of quenched disorder introduces in this problem additional troubles and several still open questions, especially concerning the effective role played by the competition between quantum and disorder fluctuations.

It has been recently suggested that the effects due to the presence of disorder may play a crucial role in the understanding of non conventional behavior seen at low temperature in several materials.
